Client Background:
An upscale family of three living between the city and the Hamptons in the summer
The Challenge:
The family was unable to find the quality of help they were looking in the Hamptons. The home was poorly cleaned by the housekeeper, meals were mediocre and the gardening and outside maintenance was inadequate. This in turn led to a lot of upset and frustration. The main factor here was their feeling that they were restricted to local help since their home was relatively small and didn’t have accommodations for live in domestic help. HSI was called.
The Approach:
HSI learned that the family become increasingly desperate with a high turnover in help due to poor performance and felt there was no solution to their problem. HSI suggested that they could obtain superior, high caliber, live in domestic help in their home who generally lived far from the Hamptons. The question was how to accomplish this. HSI suggested that the client consider renting a cottage in a town close to the Hamptons to house the summertime help in a town and a summer time residence where the rent was moderate and the quarters were decent.
The Result:
By suggesting a novel approach to the client’s problem, the employer was able to obtain the caliber of help he was searching. The added cost of renting the home was more than offset by the happiness and satisfaction of having an immaculate, well organized summer home, delicious food served on a nightly basis together with a beautifully maintained outside property. The family is overjoyed with the results and we are anticipating helping both relatives and friends with similar problems with domestic staff.
